To All The Men I Love

"And Papa I don't think I said I love you near enough..." - Leader of the Band

I grew up without a father. He died when I was about  to turn four. The only vivid memory I got with him is the story that my Mama always tell me growing up, a story on what happened on the day of his interment. I want to have an electric fan inside my father's tomb as he is 'mainitin' and would get all sweaty when humid, just like me. And the lone picture that I always post, the one where Ate and I ride in his back. Growing up, I got the father figure I need from my Uncles, my father's brothers, who stood in his behalf, in his absence. This song is very special to me (and my cousins) as we dedicate this song to our fathers. It's not father's day today, but I want to say thank you to all of my father's brothers.

Art Appreciation: Papemelroti

Yes, THE famous Papemelroti! Who doesn't know them?

I have been a fan of Papemelroti since high school (1990s). Every chance I got that I can go to the mall and would have enough money saved, I HAVE TO BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM. As seen on the picture, those are some of the items I get to keep until now, the oldest would be the gift wrapper that I got and used as a notebook cover.

Art Appreciation: Bonsai

By: Mangyan Bonsai
Little trees, dwarfed trees - these are some of the names people have called bonsai. Bonsai, by definition, means an ornamental tree or shrub grown in a pot and artificially prevented from reaching its normal size. It was derived from the Japanese terms:

Bon - which means tray

and

sai - which means planting
(Source: Google)

Bonsai symbolizes harmony, peace, order of thoughts and balance. This Japanese art entails a lot of patience as you will not get the result you want instantly. A bonsai can reach its potential or ideal look in as early as two years, some will take more. (Source: Mangyan Bonsai)

Bonsai comes in different sizes. They are classified according to height. Shown below is an image of bonsai(s) in different sizes, in reference to human's height.

Art Appreciation: Untitled by Ambit Mendoza

Started to appreciate them again on my birthday week, so Level 4 SM Megamall is where my feet led me.

Let's start with Ambit Mendoza. She opened her first solo exhibit last November 23, Untitled, which showcases oil-based, bonsai-inspired paintings. The exhibit also displays bonsais of various bonsai artist including Mangyan Bonsai. Exhibit will run until December 4.

Enjoy photos below, both of her paintings and the bonsais.

Nice poster right?

From Cainta to Laiya

When: May 21-22, 2016
Where: Lola Beach Resort
Laiya, San Juan, Batangas
Who: Ivy, Jessie,Louryn, Jean,Will, Mich, Ben

It was supposed to be a team building in Cainta, unfortunately the reservation was a no-go. We can't find any cheap alternative nearby so we decided to go with the first choice - a beach getaway. Tired and with heavy bags (literally, since we already bought food from the nearby market), we went to Cubao for a bus ride that will take us to Laiya. With no reservations and no idea how we can reach Laiya, off we go.

No decent lunch but has some bread to spare, nuts to munch and bottles of water, we rode a bus to Lipa and was told that we have to look for a van that will take us to Laiya. Van driver was somehow accommodating to help us look for possible places, until we met Kuyang Nakamotor. So I left them somewhere, went with Kuya on a motor ride and looked for resorts. Good thing we found Lola. And it is where our beach getaway started. We were not able to take pictures until the next day because we're all (1) tired, (2) hungry, (3) pissed off. But the beach + some stories and alcohol calmed us down. Here are some of our pictures.

This Reminded Me

Previous blog posts reminded me of a friendship that I thought was something worth keeping, but I have learned a long time ago that real friends doesn't judge a friend or even condemn her for something they weren't sure of. In my case, I was not only judged, I was sentenced and that caused me to go back to my old self.

Don't trust everyone the way you trust your gut feel.

But I still hope that one day, sometime, we can all talk about what happened and start fresh. Same old me, hopeful that something broken can still be fixed.

Life sucks and it's making me sad. Oh, well...

It's Magic... and Carla... and BNO!

Late post, and yes, thanks to Carla's blog post that I remember having this blog.

July 9, 2012

I had the privilege of meeting one of the prettiest Magic disk jocks, Carla D. Went to Magic to get my cousin's prize, an advance screening tix for two to Magic Mike, which I enjoyed more than my cousin.

I saw Boom, too at the elevator, we're waiting for our turn and he's going down, basement, I suppose, because I was at the ground floor lobby, if only he was smiling that time, it would look like the Boom that I see on TV. Nevertheless, he's still one of the best.

July 22, 2012

Went to watch the Bat movie at Greenbelt 3 and saw Boys Night Out DJs! Friend was asking who they are and I said Sam YG, Tony Toni and ERIC VIRATA! LOL! Not that I forgot that he is Slick Rick, just that Eric Virata came to mind first.

Anyhoo, they're about to watch the Bat movie too in the same cinema we're in. :)

Of Missing You Three

I miss you three.

"Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down"
"Even though we've changed  and we're all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall of the smile spreads across our face, we'll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we're not all still friends."
